Your Very Suffolk Christmas – Bringing Festive Cheer to Ipswich

Discover how we helped Ipswich Central to bring the community together with ‘Your Very Suffolk Christmas,’ a campaign designed to celebrate the festive season, support local businesses, and engage residents in a series of exciting activities and digital promotions.

CHALLENGE:

Ipswich Central sought to increase town centre footfall, promote local businesses, and build festive spirit while supporting a charitable cause during the Christmas season. The aim was to create an engaging experience that combined digital and in-person activations to maximise reach and impact.

SOLUTION:

We developed a Christmas campaign called ‘Your Very Suffolk Christmas’ that unified festive events, promotions, and performances under one cohesive campaign. The initiative featured:

  • A Christmas Activation Day on December 14th, bringing live performances, a tractor trail, character meet-and-greets, a wreath-making workshop, and local business stalls to the town centre.
  • A Digital Advent Calendar Competition running from December 1st-24th, designed to drive traffic to the campaign website and promote participating businesses. Each day featured a prize donated by a local business, encouraging community participation and email database signups.
  • A comprehensive digital marketing strategy, including Google Ads and social media promotions, to amplify engagement and footfall.
  • The campaign also supported local charity Suffolk Mind, raising over £1,000 through various fundraising efforts.

HOW WE DID IT:

  • Festive Activation Day – A carefully curated schedule of activities and entertainment, including local choirs, music performances, and interactive experiences for families.
  • Community Partnerships – Collaborating with six community groups and local businesses to maximise participation and impact.
  • Digital & Social Media Engagement – A focused effort to drive awareness through a dedicated landing page, digital ads, and social media promotions.
  • Retail & Business Involvement – 28 BID businesses engaged through event participation and prize contributions for the advent calendar.

RESULTS:

  • £1,091.45 raised for Suffolk Mind through donations and charity initiatives.
  • +91% increase in website sessions, with over 32,000 total sessions during the campaign period.
  • +18.5% social media engagement growth, with Instagram leading at +34.3%.
  • 821 new customer emails gathered for future marketing efforts.
  • 850,977 combined reach across Facebook & Instagram.
  • 6 community partnerships, exceeding the original target of three.

The success of ‘Your Very Suffolk Christmas’ highlights the power of blending digital strategy with on-the-ground activation to create an engaging, impactful, and community-driven campaign. Looking ahead, Ipswich Central aims to build on this foundation, expanding local business participation and refining its digital approach for even greater engagement in future events.
