How we created an unforgettable charity event that drove footfall, increased dwell time and raised over £1,000 for charity

arc Shopping Centre’s Summer Show successfully combined family-friendly entertainment with charitable fundraising, leading to increased community engagement and notable gains in footfall, social media presence, and press coverage. The event not only provided a fun-filled day for attendees but also made a meaningful contribution to worthy causes.

Challenge:
In 2022 arc Shopping Centre’s hosted an immersive Summer Show that brought the whole community together to raise money for the national fundraising event One Great Day which was a triumphant success. The challenge for 2023 was to make the show bigger and better, increasing the funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Gatehouse and providing even more excitement and activities for all the family, including four-legged friends.

Solution:
The Summer Show kicked off with a beloved dog show featuring various fun categories for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages. Each category entry cost £1, with winners receiving an exclusive arc VIP bandana. There were also dog-friendly treats and gift boxes available for purchase throughout the day, along with a cooling station to ensure the comfort of the pets.

Families enjoyed a variety of activities, including face painting, classic fair games like tin can alley, mini-golf, live musical performances, and a special character meet and greet with a famous dog from down under. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to play cornhole courtesy of the Bury Baggers Cornhole Club and win prizes donated by arc tenants and local Suffolk businesses.

The event was free to attend, but donations were encouraged for each activity to support the two chosen charities.
