Supporting Students in our Local Community!
At Toolbox we like to do our bit for the local community, one of the many ways we do this is by supporting local colleges and universities by getting involved with the students by providing them opportunities to get real world experience in a marketing agency environment.
Work experience for students plays a crucial role in any career path. Helping to develop a student’s professional aptitude and strengthen their character. Ensuring students leave their courses with a balance of academic education and practical skill behind them, ready to start their careers in the real world.
We run an internship programme with the University Studies at West Suffolk College Graphic Communication students, which gives aspiring graphic designers the opportunity to work in our in-house graphic design studio. They are mentored by graphic designers in our studio and are given the opportunity to work on live client briefs, to tight deadlines providing them with the skills they will need to thrive in a fast paced, creative environment.
We have also recently partnered up with the fashion media students at West Suffolk College and The Arc Shopping Centre. The students will be making use of an empty retail unit and turning it into a photography studio. They will be working with retailers in The Arc by photographing their products in order to create promotional material. Another fantastic opportunity for these students, and an innovative use of space in what would have been an empty retail unit!
Employer engagement is something that I can vouch for with first-hand experience. I completed an internship at Toolbox in my second year on my degree course, and the time I spent in the studio here was invaluable to my learning. Little did I know that 3 years after that internship, I’d be back at Toolbox working back in the studio where it all began!
